Federal Pacific panel replacement in Savannah

A Savannah insurance letter that names Federal Pacific is a city or county electrical permit plus a Georgia Power disconnect. Development Services issues the city file. Georgia Power owns the laterals.

Do you have an insurance letter about this panel?

Photo upload comes later. A picture of the closed door and the inside label is enough if someone asks.

A Salt Creek shop and a Chatham panel letter is how a lot of Savannah files start. The carrier still named Federal Pacific on the panel.

The city inspector will not own the Georgia Power laterals. Georgia Power will not print the Interchange Drive electrical permit. Those two systems do not match. A helper with a van cannot stand in for either one.

What the utilities actually wrote

Most Savannah bills are Georgia Power. Confirm the logo on the bill before anyone prices the job.

Start with the 2023 Blue Book. Disconnection of service and removal of service laterals shall be made by Company only.

All underground service connections shall be made by the Company only.

Disconnections of all underground services shall be made by Company only.

Final connections at the service point shall be made by the Company.

In areas where electrical inspection is provided, the Public Service Commission requires inspector approval of the customer wiring before the company connects that service to its system. That is not a homeowner meter-pull path.

Georgia Power does not publish a guaranteed power-off hour count. Joyner writes that company lead time can run from one week to one to two months. That is a contractor field note.

Permits in Savannah and in Chatham County

Inside the city, start at Development Services, 20 Interchange Drive. The department phone is 912-651-6510. Files go through eTRAC.

Who pulls the permit matters. A stand-alone electrical permit that is not a homeowner self-perform file has to be submitted online by a licensed contractor. The city’s residential page lets an owner take a permit only on the owner’s own residence. The owner has to live there. Rentals are out. Work the owner does not perform still needs a Georgia-licensed contractor, and that contractor still has to secure the trade permit. Owning the home does not mean you should pull the permit and then hire someone under your name.

Pooler, Garden City, Port Wentworth, Richmond Hill, Tybee Island, and unincorporated Chatham County file at their own counters. A quote that only says “we handle the permit” should name the city on the address.

Price, without inventing one

One Savannah contractor page publishes service-upgrade bands and does not hide the split.

Joyner’s light-upgrade scenario prints $4,800 to $6,200. The same page prints a full rebuild after fire damage or an insurance-mandated upgrade at $9,000 to $12,000+. Those two lines do not match. We will not average them. We are not inventing a Salt Creek midpoint from either line. Both lines are service-upgrade work. They are not a like-for-like interior panel swap.

Georgia license lookup is public. Ask for the EN number and check it on the Secretary of State board before you sign. One shop advertises this work on their own site and prints a license number. Joyner’s panel page names Federal Pacific Electric Company (FPE) panels and Zinsco panels. The shop’s own service-upgrade page prints EN211003. They write daily work from 128L Salt Creek Road. They are listed for the panel letter, not as a Chatham County directory.

Directory-only shops are omitted. A page that names these brands and does not print a Georgia electrical contractor number is not a listing. The listed shop is not affiliated with Panel Letter.

What to hand the carrier

The useful packet is the closed City of Savannah, Chatham County, or other Coastal Empire electrical permit, the passed electrical inspection, an invoice with the license number that was on the permit, and photos if the letter asks. If your electrician produces a load calculation or panel schedule, send that too. We did not find a carrier page that publishes a single statewide sticker form. Ask the agent what they will actually open.

Electricians who advertise this job

A shop is listed only if it advertises Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or insurance-driven panel replacement on its own site and prints a license number there. Trade-association locators already exist. We will not pad this list. Verify the license before you hire.

To get introduced, use the quote form on this page. We do not send you to the shop from here.
