Federal Pacific panel replacement in Cedar City

A Cedar City insurance letter that names Federal Pacific is a city or county electrical permit plus a Rocky Mountain Power disconnect. The Building Department issues the 10 N Main Street file. Rocky Mountain Power owns the seal.

Do you have an insurance letter about this panel?

Photo upload comes later. A picture of the closed door and the inside label is enough if someone asks.

Brian Head weekends and a 1970s ranch box is how a lot of Cedar City letters start. The carrier still named Federal Pacific on the panel.

The city inspector will not pull a Rocky Mountain Power meter. Rocky Mountain Power will not print the 10 N Main Street electrical permit. Those two systems do not match. A helper with a van cannot stand in for either one.

What the utilities actually wrote

Most Cedar City bills are Rocky Mountain Power. Confirm the logo on the bill before anyone prices the job.

Start with the Electric Service Requirements. All physical disconnects shall be done by Power Company personnel.

Customers or their agents shall not physically disconnect their service.

That is not a homeowner meter-pull path.

Cedar City’s electric-service page is the work ticket. Apply for and obtain a Building Permit first. Call Rocky Mountain Power at 888-221-7070 for the work order numbers. Temporary and permanent power numbers will not interchange. The city will not schedule the meter inspection without that number. Rocky Mountain Power does not publish a guaranteed power-off hour count.

Permits in Cedar City and in Iron County

Inside Cedar City, start at the Building Department, 10 N Main Street. The phone is 435-865-4519. Files go through the city’s online portal.

Who pulls the permit matters. The city’s permit guide wants applicable DOPL-licensed contractor information before the permit may be issued. That same guide lets a residential owner upload a notarized Owner/Builder form when the owner is doing the work. The Owner-Builder form still limits who may touch the job. Owning the home does not mean you should pull the permit and then hire someone under your name.

Enoch, Parowan, Brian Head, Paragonah, Kanarraville, and unincorporated Iron County file at their own counters. Iron County Building is at 82 N 100 E #102. A quote that only says “we handle the permit” should name the city on the address.

Price, without inventing one

One Cedar City contractor page publishes three 2026 panel bands and does not hide the split.

Fowler Electric’s 2026 cost page prints a 200-amp panel replacement at $2,400 to $3,800. The same page prints a 100-amp to 200-amp upgrade with a meter base at $3,800 to $5,500. Those two lines do not match. We will not average them. The same page prints a third line for a 100-amp to 200-amp job plus a service mast plus Rocky Mountain Power coordination at $4,800 to $7,000. We are not inventing a Main Street midpoint from any of the three.

Utah DOPL lookup is public. Ask for the electrical contractor number and check it before you sign. One shop advertises this work on their own site and prints a license number. Fowler Electric’s replacements page names Federal Pacific, Zinsco, and fuse-based panels. The shop’s own site prints Utah License #12129347-5501. They write daily work across Cedar City and also name St. George, Duck Creek, and Brian Head. They are listed for the panel letter, not as an Iron County directory.

Directory-only shops are omitted. A page that names these brands and does not print a Utah DOPL number is not a listing. The listed shop is not affiliated with Panel Letter.

What to hand the carrier

The useful packet is the closed City of Cedar City, Iron County, or other municipal electrical permit, the passed electrical inspection, an invoice with the license number that was on the permit, and photos if the letter asks. If your electrician produces a load calculation or panel schedule, send that too. We did not find a carrier page that publishes a single statewide sticker form. Ask the agent what they will actually open.

Electricians who advertise this job

A shop is listed only if it advertises Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or insurance-driven panel replacement on its own site and prints a license number there. Trade-association locators already exist. We will not pad this list. Verify the license before you hire.

To get introduced, use the quote form on this page. We do not send you to the shop from here.
