Federal Pacific panel replacement in Citrus Heights

The city's own utility list names SMUD as the Citrus Heights electric provider, so a panel swap here runs on SMUD's steps once the city inspector at 6360 Fountain Square Drive passes the work.

Do you have an insurance letter about this panel?

Photo upload comes later. A picture of the closed door and the inside label is enough if someone asks.

Citrus Heights puts a city condition on top of the state license. Its Building and Safety Division says a contractor must hold a valid Citrus Heights business license before a building permit will be issued, so a C-10 alone does not get the panel permit.

The owner route has its own paper. Form CHB0603 makes an owner-builder the responsible party of record on the permit, and it says the owner can avoid that by having a licensed contractor file the permit instead.

What SMUD actually wrote

Citrus Heights has one electric utility on its own list. The city's Utility Providers page names SMUD for electricity and PG&E for gas.

For a SMUD meter, the Meter and Service page orders the work: the local agency first, then SMUD's application, filed online, at 4401 Bradshaw Road, or by mail, then the city's inspection of the new panel.

Local agencies typically notify SMUD of their approval one business day after they approve the work.

Our work is typically completed within seven business days of the meter panel inspection approval.

That seven-day figure is SMUD's calendar for its own crew. It is not a promise about how long the house is without power on swap day.

Permits in Citrus Heights

Building and Safety is at 6360 Fountain Square Drive. The division takes calls at (916) 727-4760 on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the lobby closes at 4:00 p.m., and inspection requests go to 916-727-4750.

Who pulls the permit matters. Uniform's Citrus Heights page says most panel upgrades and service changes need a permit through the city's building division, and that the shop handles permitting on jobs that require it. Applications and inspection requests run through the city's customer portal.

An owner-builder permit waits on form CHB0603. The city says it will not issue the permit until the owner has initialed each line, signed the form, and returned it, and the owner's signature is checked against a driver's license, a notarization, or other proof the division accepts when the permit is issued.

Price, without inventing one

Uniform prints no dollar band on its Citrus Heights page, its Sacramento panel page, or its pricing page. Two other Sacramento-area shops whose pages name Citrus Heights do.

Under The Sun Electric's 2026 guide puts a 100-amp to 200-amp upgrade at $1,800 to $3,500. Peach Electric's panel page spans $2,500 to $10,000, a sub-panel at the bottom and a full main panel replacement at the top. Those two systems do not match. We will not average them. We are not inventing a Fountain Square Drive midpoint from either system.

Uniform Lighting & Power is a Citrus Heights shop: its CSLB record gives a Westgate Drive address in the city, and its page says "We're based in Citrus Heights." Its Citrus Heights page lists Zinsco and Federal Pacific under aging panels, with CA LIC #1154062 printed beside its C-10 Electrical line. On CSLB, 1154062 is UNIFORM LIGHTING & POWER LLC, C10 Electrical, issued 04/27/2026 and current and active through 04/30/2028.

What to hand the carrier

Start with the permit. Once Building and Safety passes the inspection and closes the permit, send that record with an invoice that carries the same C-10 number. If the carrier's letter lists photos or a load calculation, add those too.

Electricians who advertise this job

A shop is listed only if it advertises Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or insurance-driven panel replacement on its own site and prints a license number there. Trade-association locators already exist. We will not pad this list. Verify the license before you hire.

To get introduced, use the quote form on this page. We do not send you to the shop from here.
