Federal Pacific panel replacement in Amery

An Amery insurance letter that names Federal Pacific is a city electrical permit plus an Xcel Energy inspection certificate. City Hall sits at 104 W Maple Street. Xcel Energy owns the meter.

Do you have an insurance letter about this panel?

Photo upload comes later. A picture of the closed door and the inside label is enough if someone asks.

A Highway 46 shop and a Maple Street electrical permit is how an Amery letter actually files. The carrier still named Federal Pacific on the panel.

The city inspector will not own the Xcel Energy meter. Xcel Energy will not print the Amery electrical permit. Those two systems do not match. A helper with a van cannot stand in for either one.

What the utilities actually wrote

Most Amery bills are Xcel Energy. Confirm the logo on the bill before anyone prices the job.

Start with the Wisconsin service guide. No person may engage in installing, repairing, or maintaining electrical wiring unless the person is licensed as an electrical contractor by the State of Wisconsin.

Xcel requires the company’s Electric Inspection Certificate before a meter is scheduled. The certificate is blunt on disconnect and reconnect work. Meters cannot be removed and/or off prior to work performed.

The electrical license number must accompany the electrician’s signature to be valid. A homeowner signature line exists only when the homeowner owns and primarily resides in the home. That is not a helper meter-pull path.

Xcel Energy does not publish a guaranteed power-off hour count. Call the Builders Call Line at 800-628-2121. The city’s FAQ lists Xcel Energy at 800-895-4999. St. Croix County and some Polk County rural roads can be a cooperative. That is a different disconnect desk. JETA writes most residential panel upgrades wrap up in a single day on site, with power off four to six hours. That is a contractor field note.

Permits in Amery and in St. Croix County

Inside the city, start at City Hall, 104 W Maple Street, Suite A. The clerk phone is 715-268-7486. REM Inspecting LLC is the published inspection agency.

Who pulls the permit matters. Per the City of Amery ordinance, all new electrical installation needs an electrical permit and inspection. That includes service panel upgrades, additions, alterations, and extensions. Wisconsin Statute 101.862 still has an owner-occupant path for wiring in a single-family home the owner occupies. That path is self-perform work. Owning the home does not mean you should pull the permit and then hire someone under your name.

Hudson, New Richmond, and other St. Croix County municipalities file at their own counters. A quote that only says “we handle the permit” should name the city on the address.

Price, without inventing one

Two Wisconsin contractor pages publish panel bands and do not hide the split.

JETA’s Amery page prints FPE / Zinsco replacements at $2,800 to $3,800. Trusted’s Pewaukee page prints panel upgrades at $2,500 to $4,500. Those two systems do not match. We will not average them. We are not inventing a Maple Street midpoint from either system.

Wisconsin license lookup is public. Ask for the DSPS number and check it before you sign. One shop advertises this work on their own site and prints a license number. JETA’s panel page names FPE / Zinsco / Federal Pacific replacements. The shop’s own site prints WI #1359-EC. They write daily work from 408 WI-46. They are listed for the panel letter, not as a Polk County directory.

Directory-only shops are omitted. A page that names these brands and does not print a Wisconsin electrical contractor number is not a listing. The listed shop is not affiliated with Panel Letter.

What to hand the carrier

The useful packet is the closed City of Amery or other municipal electrical permit, the passed electrical inspection, an invoice with the license number that was on the permit, and photos if the letter asks. If your electrician produces a load calculation or panel schedule, send that too. We did not find a carrier page that publishes a single statewide sticker form. Ask the agent what they will actually open.

Electricians who advertise this job

A shop is listed only if it advertises Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or insurance-driven panel replacement on its own site and prints a license number there. Trade-association locators already exist. We will not pad this list. Verify the license before you hire.

To get introduced, use the quote form on this page. We do not send you to the shop from here.
