A Fares Avenue shop and a Civic Center Room 310 file is how a lot of Evansville letters start. The carrier still named Federal Pacific on the panel.
The city inspector will not own the CenterPoint seal. CenterPoint will not print the Room 310 electrical permit. Those two systems do not match. A helper with a van cannot stand in for either one.
What the utilities actually wrote
Most Evansville, Newburgh, and Vanderburgh bills are CenterPoint Energy Indiana South. Confirm the logo on the bill before anyone prices the job.
Start with the electric tariff. Customer shall permit no person other than an agent of Company or person otherwise lawfully authorized to do so, to inspect, test, or remove the metering equipment.
Customer shall exercise due diligence to protect said metering equipment from tampering, damage or accident.
When the company detects unauthorized use or tampering, it may assess a minimum investigation charge of $103.46. The residential new-service application is just as hard on reconnect. Vanderburgh County requires a house-line inspection before CenterPoint will connect. The inspector contacts the company after that inspection. If your area does not require it, the form says to call 800-990-1930 after the electrician finishes.
That is not a homeowner meter-pull path.
CenterPoint Energy Indiana South does not publish a guaranteed power-off hour count. The Houston CenterPoint meter-pull PDF is a different operating company. Do not treat a 713 number as the Evansville ticket. Bright writes most jobs finish in one day once the permit and inspection are set. That is a contractor field note.
Permits in Evansville and in Vanderburgh County
Inside the city and the county, start at the Building Commission, Civic Center Complex, Room 310, 1 NW Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. The business phone is (812) 436-7885.
Who pulls the permit matters. An electrical permit is required for a new service, new wiring, or rewiring. Work shall not start before the permit is issued. Evansville and Vanderburgh County ordinances require licensed contractors for work done on buildings. Chapter 15.08 carves a limited repair exemption. That exemption does not apply to electrical wiring or service panels. Owning the home does not mean you should pull the permit and then hire someone under your name.
Newburgh, Boonville, and Henderson each have their own counter. A quote that only says “we handle the permit” should name the city or county on the address.
Price, without inventing one
Two Southern Indiana contractor pages publish panel bands and do not hide the split.
Bright’s Evansville page prints typical 200-amp replacements at $1,000 to $1,500. Pro Electric’s Corydon page prints most Southern Indiana panel upgrades at $2,500 to $4,500. Those two systems do not match. We will not average them. We are not inventing a Civic Center midpoint from either line.
Vanderburgh license lookup sits at the Building Commission. Ask for the number and check it before you sign. One shop advertises this work on their own site and prints a license number. Bright’s panel page names Federal Pacific, Zinsco, and fuse replacements. The shop’s own site prints Vanderburgh County License #29714. They write daily work from 1654 N Fares Ave. They are listed for the panel letter, not as a Vanderburgh County directory.
Directory-only shops are omitted. A page that names these brands and does not print a license number is not a listing. The listed shop is not affiliated with Panel Letter.
What to hand the carrier
The useful packet is the closed City of Evansville or Vanderburgh County electrical permit, the passed electrical inspection, an invoice with the license number that was on the permit, and photos if the letter asks. If your electrician produces a load calculation or panel schedule, send that too. We did not find a carrier page that publishes a single statewide sticker form. Ask the agent what they will actually open.
Typical replacement cost
One Evansville shop and one Southern Indiana shop publish panel bands that do not match. We are not inventing a Civic Center midpoint from them
$1,000 to $1,500
Typical 200-amp panel replacement printed by an Evansville shop
Their Evansville panel page. The same table prints 100-amp replacements at $650 to $950. Those two lines do not match. A Corydon shop prints most Southern Indiana panel upgrades at $2,500 to $4,500. Those two systems do not match. We will not average them. We are not inventing a Civic Center midpoint from either line.

Permit
City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County Building Commission
Who pulls it: The Building Commission sits at 1 NW Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Civic Center Complex, Room 310, Evansville, IN 47708. The business phone is (812) 436-7885. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Electrical permits go through the online permitting portal. An electrical permit is required if you are installing a new service, new wiring, or rewiring. Inspection requests go to (812) 436-7867 or inspectionrequests@evansville.in.gov. Newburgh, Boonville, and Henderson are not the Room 310 file.
Evansville and Vanderburgh County ordinances require permits, inspections, and licensed contractors for work done on buildings. Chapter 15.08 carves a limited repair exemption. That exemption does not apply to electrical wiring or service panels. A quote that only says we handle the permit should name the city or county on the address. Vanderburgh electrical licensing is the Building Commission. Ask for the master number they will put on the Room 310 file.
Utility coordination
CenterPoint Energy Indiana South on most Evansville and Newburgh bills
Who disconnects: CenterPoint Energy Indiana South’s electric tariff is blunt about the meter. Customer shall provide suitable space for the metering equipment, said metering equipment to be owned and maintained by Company. Customer shall exercise due diligence to protect said metering equipment from tampering, damage or accident. Customer shall permit no person other than an agent of Company or person otherwise lawfully authorized to do so, to inspect, test, or remove the same. When Company detects unauthorized use or tampering of Company’s measuring equipment, it may assess a minimum investigation charge of $103.46 per occurrence. The residential new-service application is just as hard on reconnect. Vanderburgh County requires a house-line inspection before CenterPoint will connect. The inspector contacts the company after the inspection. If your area does not require that inspection, the form says to call 800-990-1930 after the electrician finishes. That is not a homeowner meter-pull path.
Outage window: CenterPoint Energy Indiana South does not publish a guaranteed power-off hour count for a residential panel swap.
Confirm the logo on the bill before anyone prices the job. Most Evansville, Newburgh, and Vanderburgh addresses are CenterPoint Energy Indiana South, the former Vectren electric company. The Houston CenterPoint meter-pull PDF is a different operating company. Do not treat a 713 number as the Evansville ticket. A like-for-like panel swap still needs the Room 310 inspection and that utility ticket. A service-size change is still the company’s disconnect and reconnect, not a helper cutting the seal. Bright writes most jobs finish in one day once the permit and inspection are set. That is a contractor field note.
What to hand the insurer
- Closed City of Evansville or Vanderburgh County electrical permit
- Passed electrical inspection
- Invoice showing the Vanderburgh County license number used on the permit
- Photos of the old and new panel if the carrier’s letter asks for them
- Load calculation or panel schedule if the electrician produced one
Ask your agent for the exact list. Carriers do not publish a single national checklist.
Electricians who advertise this job
A shop is listed only if it advertises Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or insurance-driven panel replacement on its own site and prints a license number there. Trade-association locators already exist. We will not pad this list. Verify the license before you hire.
To get introduced, use the quote form on this page. We do not send you to the shop from here.
