Federal Pacific panel replacement in Chambersburg

A Chambersburg insurance letter that names Federal Pacific is a Borough electrical permit plus a municipal Service Request. The Service Center issues both tickets. The Borough owns the meter.

Do you have an insurance letter about this panel?

Photo upload comes later. A picture of the closed door and the inside label is enough if someone asks.

A Borough-owned electric department and a Franklin Street Service Request is how a Chambersburg panel letter actually moves. The carrier still named Federal Pacific on the panel.

The Borough electrician license will not replace the Service Request. The Service Request will not replace the MEL number on the permit. Those two systems do not match. A helper with a van cannot stand in for either one.

What the utilities actually wrote

Most addresses inside the Borough sit on Chambersburg Electric. Confirm the logo on the bill before anyone prices the job.

Start with the Electrical Work Process PDF. You have to be a Borough Licensed Electrician to do the work.

Obtain the Electric Permit Application and the Service Request from the Service Center, 80 S. Franklin Street, or from the Borough site. That has to be done for every job inside the Borough.

Borough Service Center Electrical staff sign both forms. A copy comes back to the electrician. There is no cost for the Electric Permit.

If you need an electrical meter socket, the Borough Warehouse supplies it at their fee.

The Utility Service Manual is blunt on the meter. The meter is the property of the Borough of Chambersburg, but in the care and custody of the user.

The Borough shall inspect, test, adjust, maintain and/or replace such meters.

The property owner and/or tenant are prohibited from removing, damaging or tampering with the meter.

That is not a homeowner meter-pull path.

The Borough does not publish a guaranteed power-off hour count.

Guilford Township, Greencastle, and much of Franklin County sit on a different utility. Those companies do not match as one utility. Read the bill before anyone prices the disconnect.

Permits in Chambersburg and in Franklin County

Inside the Borough, start at the Service Center, 80 S. Franklin Street. The dispatcher phone is 717-263-4111.

Who pulls the permit matters. The permits table says electric work is regulated electrical work per Chapter 135. You need to be Borough licensed. The process PDF does not print a homeowner electrical-permit path. Owning the home does not mean you should pull the permit and then hire someone under your name.

Land-use files still start at Borough Hall, 100 S. Second Street. Some Franklin County UCC work goes to PA Municipal Code Alliance at 1013 Wayne Avenue. A quote that only says “we handle the permit” should name the municipality on the address.

Price, without inventing one

Two nearby contractor pages publish panel bands and do not hide the split.

Kline’s Hagerstown FAQ prints main service panel replacements at $2,700 to $5,000. Dead Rock’s Martinsburg page prints panel upgrades at $1,800 to $3,500. Those two systems do not match. We will not average them. We are not inventing a Franklin Street midpoint from either line.

Pennsylvania has no statewide electrician license. The Borough still prints an MEL number. Ask for that number and the PA registration they will put on the file. One shop advertises this work on their own site and prints a license number. Rosenberry’s panel page lists Federal Pacific and Zinsco replacements. The shop’s own footer prints Borough of Chambersburg License MEL-246 and PA License PA012151. They write daily work in Chambersburg. They are listed for the panel letter, not as a Franklin County directory.

Directory-only shops are omitted. A page that names these brands and does not print a license number is not a listing. The listed shop is not affiliated with Panel Letter.

What to hand the carrier

The useful packet is the closed Borough electrical permit, the signed Service Request, an invoice with the MEL number that was on the file, and photos if the letter asks. If your electrician produces a load calculation or panel schedule, send that too. We did not find a carrier page that publishes a single statewide sticker form. Ask the agent what they will actually open.

Electricians who advertise this job

A shop is listed only if it advertises Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or insurance-driven panel replacement on its own site and prints a license number there. Trade-association locators already exist. We will not pad this list. Verify the license before you hire.

To get introduced, use the quote form on this page. We do not send you to the shop from here.
