Federal Pacific panel replacement in Baton Rouge

A Baton Rouge insurance letter that names Federal Pacific is a parish electrical permit plus an Entergy Louisiana authorization before anyone touches the meter. Permits and Inspections issues the file. Entergy owns the meter.

Do you have an insurance letter about this panel?

Photo upload comes later. A picture of the closed door and the inside label is enough if someone asks.

The non-renewal letter named Federal Pacific. Permits and Inspections still wants the electrical file at 300 North Tenth Street. Entergy Louisiana still owns the meter.

The parish counter will not authorize Entergy's disconnect. Entergy will not issue the City-Parish electrical permit. Those two systems do not match. A helper with a van cannot stand in for either one.

What Entergy Louisiana actually wrote

Start with the Customer Installation Standards. Under no circumstances shall any service drop wire, meter or metering equipment belonging to the Company be disconnected, removed, or relocated unless authorized by the Company.

This authorization requires advance notification.

The Customer is required to contact the Company to schedule the connection of the service. The Company will schedule that connection after the authority having jurisdiction has notified Entergy that the required permits and inspections are passed and approved.

The Company may operate and lock a disconnect switch for safety, non-payment, or any other valid reason.

The miscellaneous-service schedule prints a $75 tampering charge for tampering with Company meters or equipment, bypassing the same, or other diversion.

Permits and Inspections issues the electrical permit. Entergy will not treat a cut seal as ordinary maintenance. Those two systems do not match.

Confirm the logo on the bill. Most Mid-City, Broadmoor, Goodwood, and Capital Heights addresses are Entergy Louisiana.

Entergy does not publish a guaranteed power-off hour count. BIG Family describes most Baton Rouge swaps as about four to eight hours on job day. That is a contractor field note.

Permits inside Baton Rouge and in East Baton Rouge Parish

Inside the city-parish, start at Permits and Inspections, 300 North Tenth Street. Electrical files go through MyGovernmentOnline. The division phone is 225-389-3205.

Who pulls the permit matters. The residential page requires a permit for new electrical circuits, including replacements and extensions. It also requires a permit for replacement of electrical meters, disconnects, and other service equipment. Same-size breaker swaps in the same location sit on the no-permit list. A Federal Pacific or Zinsco swap is not that job. Work over $7,500 has to be done by a registered home-improvement contractor or a licensed residential contractor unless you file as an owner-builder. The Affidavit Claiming Exemption from Licensure is how that path is written down. You must supervise the work yourself. You may not hire an unlicensed person as your contractor. Owning the home does not mean you should pull the permit and then hire someone under your name.

Central, Zachary, Baker, Denham Springs, and Prairieville may use their own counters. A quote that only says “we handle the permit” should name the city on the address.

Price, without inventing one

BIG Family’s Baton Rouge panel page publishes one job band and does not hide the caveats. An electrical panel upgrade is printed at $2,500 to $4,500. They say the number moves with panel location, service-entrance configuration, and utility coordination. They say the band includes the new panel, service-entrance equipment, permits, inspections, and installation. We will not average them. We are not inventing a Parish midpoint from this band.

Louisiana license lookup is public. Ask for the LSLBC number and check it before you sign. One shop advertises this work on their own site and prints a license number. BIG Family’s Baton Rouge panel page names Federal Pacific and Zinsco and prints LA License #69572. They write daily work across Mid City, Capital Heights, Goodwood, and Tara. They are listed for the panel letter, not as a Parish directory.

Directory-only shops are omitted. A page that names these brands and does not print a Louisiana contractor license number is not a listing. The listed shop is not affiliated with Panel Letter.

What to hand the carrier

The useful packet is the closed City-Parish electrical permit, the passed final inspection, an invoice with the license number that was on the permit, and photos if the letter asks. If your electrician produces a load calculation or panel schedule, send that too. We did not find a carrier page that publishes a single statewide sticker form. Ask the agent what they will actually open.

Electricians who advertise this job

A shop is listed only if it advertises Federal Pacific, Zinsco, or insurance-driven panel replacement on its own site and prints a license number there. Trade-association locators already exist. We will not pad this list. Verify the license before you hire.

To get introduced, use the quote form on this page. We do not send you to the shop from here.
